This project required a complete kitchen renovation. Since the client wanted to keep the medium wood tones, we selected the perfect walnut wood at the lumberyard and our master cabinetmaker handled the grain equistely, making sure the pattern continued across the front of all cabinet faces uninterrupted. To create a more minimal look, we used the same slabs of stone vertically on the backsplash to eliminate more lines with the grout that might compete with the grain and movement of the walnut and slab style doors. We reconfigured the layout, added more usable drawers, simplified the color pallette for a calm, clean, crisp feel.
In addition, we addressed some adjacent spaces (a foyer and formal living room) with a mostly cream palette creating a light, airy and luminous space. By reupholstering some existing pieces, adding some new ones that bring the space into this era, we have a beautiful blend of eras that feels more modern with a monochromatic palette.
